Employers with thousands of member lives under management trust Ouma to deliver expert maternity care for their teams.

This program has been a lifesaver for me. I’m so extremely thankful. I had easy access to help when I needed anything, and it was comforting to know that someone was checking in and looking after me during my pregnancy.

Ouma as the Last Resort

Employer Benefit

When No One Else Would See Her

A 42-year-old woman with an IVF pregnancy at 8 weeks contacted Ouma from the ER after experiencing complications from diabetes and a newly diagnosed COVID-19 infection. She reached out to Ouma because her OB and primary care physician both refused to see her for initiation of diabetic management.

She met with the Ouma diabetic educator and maternal-fetal medicine physician the same day. Medical supplies were called in within hours, and given markedly elevated values, an insulin regimen was prescribed within 24 hours along with self-injection training. She was subsequently handed off to a local MFM physician for ongoing management.

Outcome

Potential heart defect in the baby avoided by limiting early pregnancy high-sugar exposure, along with maternal complications from diabetes.
